The Shearwater PERDIX VPM-B Upgrade brings a powerful enhancement to your diving experience, offering an advanced decompression algorithm specifically designed for technical divers. The Varying Permeability Model (VPM) is a scientifically developed decompression model that aims to minimize bubble formation during decompression, ultimately reducing the risk of decompression sickness. VPM-B, the version that includes adjustments for Boyles Law effects, is especially favored by technical divers for its deeper initial stops and minimized shallow depth stop times.

This upgrade is available exclusively for the latest firmware versions of Shearwater PERDIX when set in technical open-circuit or rebreather modes. With this upgrade, you will receive an unlock code via email within 72 hours to activate the feature on your device.

For divers looking for added flexibility, the VPM-B profile allows you to adjust the conservatism factor between 0 (least conservative) to +5 (most conservative), with the default set to +3. To further enhance safety, the Gradient Factor Surfacing (GFS) option is available. This option introduces additional conservatism by adjusting shallow stops for lengthy dives that require extended decompression, ensuring a safer dive experience. The GFS hybrid system automatically selects the most conservative decompression ceiling, either from the VPM-B profile or a Bühlmann ZHL-16C profile, to provide optimal decompression results.
